We love the far-reaching views across the Stroud valleys when walking across Minchinhampton and Rodborough Common, which are owned and managed by the National Trust and home to an abundance of diverse flora and fauna, as well as the cows that roam free on the open grassland in the summer. Minchinhampton Common is also popular with golfers, with the Old Course set in this scenic location. After a breezy walk, pop in for a bite to eat at The Old Lodge or The Bear of Rodborough or visit the artisan ice cream parlour at Winstone’s Ice Cream.

Selsley Common, managed by Stroud District Council, is also a wonderful place to walk and provides unrivalled panoramic views of the River Severn and Malvern Hills. It’s popular with dog walkers and ramblers, as the Cotswold Way runs across the common.

The Cotswold Water Park spans 42 square miles and has 180 lakes. As well as nature reserves and wildlife sites, you will also find an inland beach, a vast array of water sports on offer (including sailing, paddle boarding, kayaking, windsurfing and water skiing, to name just a few), designated swimming lakes, an AquaVenture inflatable course, fishing areas, lakeside walks, cycle paths, cafes, restaurants, a hotel and a visitor centre.

The Long Table in Stroud is an award-winning restaurant with an inspirational vision: to make delicious meals accessible to everyone. The restaurant at Brimscombe Mills is a welcoming space where everyone can eat nutritious locally sourced food and socialise together, regardless of their financial means. The concept of pay-as-you-can meals means nobody misses out. Whether it’s coffee and cake or a hearty meal made with seasonal ingredients, The Long Table forges connections and friendships through delicious food. And we’re super excited that plans are underway to open another restaurant in the centre of Cirencester. Watch this space!

Roots + Seeds Kitchen Garden is located in the Old Kennels in the heart of Cirencester Park and serves up fabulous food in its child-friendly (and dog-friendly!) café and restaurant. The kitchen garden provides seasonal home grown produce for a sustainable farm to fork dining experience. Breakfast and lunch served daily, dinner on Friday and Saturday evenings. Roasts available Sunday lunchtime.
